Whenever working out an equation, there are two different unknown factors which must be worked out. The first unknown factor that you will need to figure out is the independent variable. This will not change. The other part is the dependent variable. This part will change depending on what the independent variable is. The commonly used letters to denote each part of the equation is called x and y. These are common in mathematics which start with algebra and go all the way up to when Calculus and advanced mathematics.

In controlled experiments, there are different groups which need to be taken into account in order to get the results of the experiment which will mean something to those running the experiment. The variables which are considered to be dependent will be those which cannot be controlled by those running the experiment. They will be able to control the controlled variables and even the independent variables, but there is no way to affect the variable ones. This is because their status is completely dependent on the rest of the experiment and if you knew how to get a certain outcome, there would be no reason to run the experiment.

Whenever working out statistics for something, there are many different things which will go into the overall outcome of the dependent variable. These will include the information which goes into the initial set of data. It also includes the information which can change the outcome of the information. In many cases, the variables which are dependent are the variables which are reported to substantiate certain claims because they are the end result of different numbers which are plugged into an equation. This is why there can be such a range in the outcome for the numbers which are reported as statistics.
